
The following is an excerpt from Chapter 6: Prioritizing Trustworthiness in the book Holy War for True Democracy.
In the above sections, I argued that society depends on trust; there are countless examples of trust working effectively; there are many imperfections; most of the information sources on government and politics are distrusted by large blocks of voters; there are major problems with fake news; and voters are more interested in reading articles that support their ideology than in listening to others and potentially learning the truth.
Can we make things better? I believe so – if we take advantage of most people’s innate desire to be good in combination with leveraging technology.
